Liberty International - The Liberty of Poetry

What difference a few days of Obama makes. No more Guantamo Bay. Ethics laws have been transformed and impressive incentives to not be in government for your own personal gain have been set. For all the trash talk that went on during the campaign on both sides, Obama is certainly backing his up. "Liberty without compromise" as its been described, also is symbolically represented in the reopening of the Statue of Liberty's crown for tourism which has been closed since September 11th.

The Statue of Liberty which was given to America by the people of France was a gift to be completed for 1876 centennial of the American Declaration of Independence. Since it’s opening in 1886, it has become a worldwide icon.

Many people however are not aware of a curious statue set in the back of the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, Italy. Nestled among the tombs of Galileo and Michelangelo lies a marble sculpture of “The Liberty of Poetry” whose resemblance to the Statue of Liberty is undeniable.
